    Hi Eric
Well I like the movie “the king Arthur” because I like the medieval histories and romances. Also in the movie spoke about Arthur who is a big leader who fight for the defense of Britain against the Saxon invaders in the early 6th century.
Many people think that history of the king Arthur, it’s only a myth but I think that this it´s a real legend because in that times the people fight for the power.

As you know, I am a huge fan of the movies, also known as the 7th art. I like all types of generous of films: drama, action, comedy. Now, is time to a teaser of a few of my favorites movies in all time.
The Prestige (2006): The history is about two magicians Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman) and Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) and their rivalry in the professional field as much as the personal. The characters begins with a very strong relationship, even they work together in the same escapism show, but after a terrible mistake made by Alfred that cost the life of the Robert loved woman, an interminable fight begins to see who of both has the best spectacle. Later in the movie, Alfred prepared the most amazing act in magic history that is impossible to copy and became the obsession of Robert. The Lion King: The Walt Disney´s animated movie in 1994 and for me, the best animated movie in history. The movie tale us the story of Simba a lion who lost his father and inspiration during an explosion set up by his evil uncle named Scar, who later after his brother death, became the new king. Simba later ran away to a mysterious place where met new friends and born within the idea of recover what for bloodline rule belongs to him.

The Dark Knight: Best movie ever made and released at the end of the summer of 2008. Is an adaptation of the comic book Batman. In the movie we can see a master piece of acting role by Heath Ledger in the role of “The Joker”. The story told us the eternal confrontation between Batman and The Joker who has taken control of the city crime. In the other side, appears Harvey Dent who has became the new face of good people in Gotham city and tries to erase the crime in the city, but after a several events in the movie, he became crazy and transform in the well know criminal, “Two Face”.

Under the Tuscan sun is my favorite movie, I love the provincial Italy but for me the most important is the meaning, the moral of this love story which I can apply in my life. Life always wants to give me experience, is changing me constantly, is making me growing up and it doesn´t matter how hard or sad can be a moment, life is allways great and if I have boldness everything will be perfect for me.

    Dear Luis,

I watched your Smilebox presentation about movies and I have some notes about it:

First: Your choice for your slideshow shouldn’t be random. It should be suitable for the subject you want to talk about.
Second: Your first photo wasn’t good. The choice here is very important to attract the eyes of your audience and also to give them a good reason to keep watching.
Third: You should arrange your photos to make something like series, so that your audience would be comfortable while watching and never repeat a photo.

Making a presentation is not about collecting some photos and then put them in a design to throw it afterwards. While making a presentation, you lead your audience eyes and hearts, so if you felt it, others will feel it too.

  • Eric Paul Monroe

    Dear Berry,

Before you provide constructive criticism to Luis, you should first post your favorite movie here with a slideshow also. Maybe an exemplary slideshow here would motivate other students to follow your example. I am sure that all the students here would be more than interested in what is your favorite movie. I am certain that they would not have a great deal of knowledge about Egyptian movies.

Let me know when you have finished with your presentation and I would do my best to display your tedious work here for everyone to enjoy. ;)

    Sincerely,

    Eric Paul Monroe

You know how when you were a little kid and you believed in fairy tales, that fantasy of what your life would be, white dress and prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill.
You would lie in bed at night and close your eyes and you had complete and utter faith. They were so close that you could feel them, but eventually you grow up, one day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears.
Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is: it is hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely because almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.
One of those people was Vivian Ward, she has a complete faith in her fairy tale. She believed that everything is possible.
Edward (Richard Gere) is a business man who makes Vivian (Julia Roberts) a job offer. He asks her to stay with him for a week and accompany him as needed.
But things get close for Vivian and Edward in a way that neither of them expects.
Simply, pretty woman is a fairy tale story. So if you believe in fairy tales you will love this movie, if not, forget it, it is not for you… ;)

I definitely believe that movies, musiccomma usage and videos are the better way for reinforcing our hability of listening, to know new words and understand the context this would be used. My last comments maybe were not very clear. I wanted to say that I always have been very respectful of the steps of the learning and I consider that firstly we should have a more extensive vocabulary and to have more resources for understanding the expressions of other cultures in english.

After triying to understand all dialogues in any movies spoken in english successfully without can do it, I have reinforced my idea. I think is easy, and I compare it with math learning, you can not solve a problema about complex numbers if you do not understand algebra laws.

I consider that the fast in the way of talking and the quality of the pronunciation are very important too. Some languages like asian lenguages are spoken more fastly than others and that make more difficult to understand it.

I love watching movies in English and it’s funny because a few years ago I didn’t like watching movies in other languages also from other countries, but to be honest the last two movies that I watched from China were excellent.
When you watch a movie in other language, you develop your listening, writing and watchingreading skills. Sometimes is not to easy understand every word, but if you understand the main idea from the movie nothing maters.
I enjoy watching romantic movies or horror movies and one of my favorite movie is “The diary of Bridget Jones”, probably the accent is a little bit difficult because British accent is completely different from U.S accent but honestly is a good way to push yourself to understand people from different countries.
Another way to learn a new language is listen to music or watch T.V., in my case this is 100% effective because in the past I used to listened music, but the most of the time I didn’t understand the meaning from the lyrics. Nowadays, is much easy for me and also I enjoy talking with people from other country, even when my pronunciation is not the best one.

  • Ivan_Merino

I love watching action movies, because action movies are a film genre where the story is largely told through physical action. The action typically involves individual efforts on the part of the hero.

My favorite movie is Man on Fire, this film has to be one of the best, if not the best movie you’ve ever seen for a long, long time. Action films are sufficient to satisfy any viewer.

The only flaw that I can see with this movie is that it is drastically over stylized but I do not have too much of a problem with it. The action is great, the suspense is great, conjunction needed the acting is very good. It has all the makings of a good action movie and makes me tingle every time I watch it because of the strong emotions in the movie.

I thought that not only was it a great action movie, it also showed what anyone (especially a parent) would feel and want to do if someone killed their child. It shows that Crasy (Denzel Washington) would die for Pita(Dakota Fanning). I thought that it was a great movie; people should wake up and appreciate this movie for what it really is: a great piece of movie making.
